When it was released, the Square Bang, as the name implies, was intended to be a square-shaped version of the Hublot Big Bang. The Square Bang uses the same UNICO automatic chronograph movements as most of today’s cheap replica Big Bang watches, and has a very similar design DNA. The only major difference is that, unlike the round-shaped Big Bang, the Square Bang applies a square-shaped theme to the case. Since its release, the Square Bang collection has proven a commercial success for Hublot, and the Swiss watchmaker now has approximately 20 versions of the Square Bang on their website. This review is for one of the closer-to-entry-level models of the Hublot Square Bang, presented in a titanium and black ceramic case.
The Hublot Square Bang watch family was originally introduced on April 1, 2022, and no, it was not an April Fool’s Day joke. Rather, that just happened to be the first day of the Watches & Wonders Geneva trade show that year. Earlier in 2025, Hublot celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Big Bang with an homage to the original pieces. Hublot’s hope is that the Big Bang has achieved “icon status,” meaning that the Big Bang has a highly distinctive look that people have come to like and demand. To be fair, all watchmakers want their products to be icons — a status that in many instances takes more than two decades. While I continue to feel that the Big Bang has relevance, I don’t think its value is in featuring a distinct visual design. Rather, I think what holds all the buy fake Hublot Big Bang Square Bang watches together is a shared personality and set of values. That’s why you can take a round Big Bang, make it square, and have it still feel solidly like something from the Big Bang universe.
Square and angular perfect copy Hublot watches have been trending as consumers seek increased variety and get bored with round cases all the time. Not that the Big Bang was the epitome of a simple round watch (hardly so), but it was certainly a compelling design exercise for Hublot to adapt the look of its modern-generation Big Bang and make it square. What impresses me the most is how successful that has been. The Square Bang case succeeds because it is well-made, interesting-looking, and very comfortable to wear. It also has the heft and personality that many people associate with the Big Bang timepiece universe that Hublot has developed over the last two decades.
Square best Hublot clone watches are attractive to designers because they present a challenge. In theory, square-shaped watches are cool, but actually getting them right is difficult. Many of history’s square or rectangular-shaped watches are awkwardly proportioned or not particularly comfortable to wear. Many are also ugly. Thus, professional watch designs and brands like Hublot see doing a square watch as a challenge. It isn’t that the market is demanding a square watch from them, but rather that they want to see if their design DNA can lend itself well to the confines of a square shape.
To be fair, all the important parts of the Swiss replica Hublot Big Bang Square Bang watches are rounded or curved. What Hublot got right was making a square watch that is mostly curves. That is important for two reasons. First, our eyes don’t like too many sharp angles on a watch case and dial. They prefer softer lines, that need to be interspersed with straight ones in order to create something most people’s brains find attractive. More practically speaking, overly square watches are sharp to the touch and not comfortable to wear. The hallmark of a good watch is one that you can run your fingers over and not find sharp elements. Hublot gets all of this very correct on the Square Bang. In fact, they seemed just as interested in wearing ergonomics as they were in promoting a square-shape theme. For some people, the Square Bang is actually even more comfortable on the wrist than the Big Bang – that’s a huge achievement for Hublot’s square watch.
Square shapes also look larger on the wrist than round ones. That makes a big impact for square watch case sizes. Hublot’s Square Bang isn’t massive, but it isn’t tiny either. It wears large, even if it is smaller overall than many other Big Bang family watches. The Square Bang case is 42mm wide, about 14mm thick, and has a roughly 52mm long lug-to-lug distance. Hublot includes a lot of fascinating design tricks to keep the watch visually small as well as ergonomically comfortable. My favorite is that when you look at the Square Bang case from the side, it is actually curved. This both increases wearing comfort and visually reduces mass. Like most other Hublot Big Bang cases, the Square Bang has a layered case construction. Most of the case is titanium with a thick black ceramic bezel. Over the dial is an AR-coated sapphire crystal, and the 1:1 fake watches is water resistant to 100 meters with a screw-down crown.
The Square Bang case has all the signature Big Bang features, including the efficient and fun-to-use “One-Click” strap removal system and a series of “H-style” screws on the bezel and lugs. One of the nicest design features on the case is the shape of the chronograph pushers. They are designed to look almost like enlarged crown guards and integrate well with the overall composition. Note how many of the case shapes are angular on a macro level, but are finished with soft edges and have plenty of curvature.
For the most part, I think that Hublot did a brilliant job with the Square Bang case. It offers a satisfying square way to enjoy the core Big Bang personality. The collection offers something new for Hublot fans, while also propping up the larger Big Bang family that Hublot is keen to “iconicize.” The one area that I’d like to see Hublot continue to experiment with is the dial design. I like the Big Bang hands and hour markers, but I feel that the rest of the open dial just feels a bit “undesigned.” The view of the UNICO movement is cool, but only at first. Eventually, I kept feeling like I wanted something else there, something more designed. Dial legibility is truly fine, with the large, lumed hands and hour markers being easy to read. The differently sized round subdials are not harmonious with the case (why not make them square shaped like TAG Heuer does on the Monaco), and the lack of actual design dial seems like something Hublot can solve. Clearly, not everyone will agree with me and will prefer this “open/skeleton” dial that Hublot crafted for the Square Bang. ButI would really like to see Hublot offer a more solid dial version of the AAA+ copy Hublot Big Bang watches, with a proper dial to match the theme of the case.
Attached to the case is a proprietary rubber strap that only connects to other Square Bang watches. I don’t think this strap fits round Swiss movement clone Hublot Big Bang watches, even if the connectors are the same. The strap is extremely comfortable, and I like the repeating square pattern on it more than the vertical line pattern on many Big Bang watches. The rubber strap comes with a matching fold-over locking deployant clasp. As I said before, the strap and case shape combination makes for a surprisingly comfortable wearing experience – even if the package is large on your wrist.
Inside the Square Bang is Hublot’s in-house made caliber UNICO HUB1280 automatic chronograph movement. It features a 60-minute flyback, column-wheel-controlled chronograph, the date, and the time with a subsidiary seconds dial. The movement operates at 4Hz with about three days of power reserve. Another great feature in the HUB1280 is the use of a silicon escapement, which makes the top replica Hublot watches UK more accurate over time and less susceptible to changes in temperature. Silicon parts also require no or very little lubrication. You can view the movement through the sapphire crystal caseback display window. The mechanism has a somewhat industrial finishing to it, but the Hublot UNICO is considered to be a very competent mechanism that I understand is both reliable and often quite accurate.
If you prefer Hublot’s Square Big Bang to the round Big Bang, you won’t pay much of a premium. That said, the larger Hublot Big Bang collection is very solidly high-end in its pricing. The Square Bang retail prices start at $25,200 for the all-titanium version. You pay a bit more for this model because of the black ceramic bezel, which I think is a worthy feature given the increased wear and tear resistance of scratch-resistant ceramic.
